HP Officejet Pro 7740
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Officejet Pro 7740 G5J38A. The printer originally came with HP 954 and 954XL cartridges.

As soon as I put the 952 cartridges, the printer LCD displays: "Incompatible Cartridges: The indicated cartridges are not intended for use in this printer."

I am writing this message to HP Support, to request resetting the regionalisation of my printer, to accept the 952 cartridges. Could you please help me by sending full instructions on how to reset the regionalisation of my printer and also if I need to input any special codes, if I need to input them in any sort of regionalisation settings menu so that I can use these cartridges?

Thanks.

Thanks for the quick response. My warranty has expired, so HP support may not be available.  I saw couple responses back in February for same issue, and an HP Support Agent (Jay-G24) send them the instructions to re-regionalize their HP Officejet Pro 7740.  I was hoping to get those instructions.

Thanks

Hi! I am experiencing the exact same issue as you are. Did you ever get this resolved? My HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 came with 954 cartridges. The HP site suggests ordering 952XL's for this printer (so i did) and they won't work it's saying it's incompatible.

I've been trying to find a solution for months and of course now my printer warranty expired last month. The cartridges are still under warranty, but the link to file a support claim now won't work bc my printer warranty expired. I tried googling 954's to buy them as a last resort and I can't even find them for sale online. I live in the US and bought this printer online. This is kind of ridiculous on HP's part.?? I need help!

Thank you

**bleep** and ask them to re-regionalization  your HP Officejet Pro 7740  to US region in order to accept and use HP 952 cartridges.  You will need to have the new HP 952 cartridges installed once they connect into your pc to do this.  Also, have your printer connected by usb cable.  They have to enter new codes, based on HP 952 cartridges ID.  It did not work for my printer, which is very unusual according to HP.  I had to go another route.

@lreisser, @Rob5564 Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

I understand you would like to perform a region reset on the printer.

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.

I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I too need HP support to re-regionalization  my HP Officejet Pro 7740 Pro  to US region in order to accept and use HP 952 cartridges.   Printer states to use ink 958XL -- have not found this ink anywhere for 6 months.  I was sent HP 952XL and get the message 'The indicated cartridges are not intended for use in this printer.'
