Hello everyone.
My HP Officejet Pro 8615 printer detects the ink levels of the 4 cartridges clearly but displays a defective printhead with these lines: head appears missing or undetected or defective.
Could you please help me?
Many thanks in advance.
Best regards,
Itsarinya

Hi arinya, I have an Officejet Pro 8600 Plus that gave me the same message a week ago. I've been trying to figure out exactly what the problem is seeing our printers are out of warranty now and new print heads cost $150 at Amazon and a few other places for a little more. There are probably 50 youtube videos showing how others have fixed the issue with their 8600 series officejet printers showing that message.
Everything from buying and installing new official HP cartridges. I had another set ( but didn't work for me) ,
to removing the printhead and unscrewing the pcb board on the back of the printhead and cleaning the contacts with a pencil eraser than put the pcb board back on the printhead, put the printhead back into the printer, reinstall the cartridges. ( that didn't work for me either ). There are other things to try as well as you'll see in other youtubes. My printhead is now completely taken apart for the second time and I'm debating if I should spend some money on printhead parts if I can find them and exactly how much to spend if I can find the parts that might fix what is wrong. As the current message I'm seeing says "there is something wrong with the printer or the ink system" which doesn't really say much about what the problem is.
I hope one of the diagnostic steps I mentioned above or one you might find on youtube, will fix what is wrong with yours.
Here a link to the HP youtube for replacing the 8600 printhead. (same as the 8615 ) and that should get you into the youtube suggested videos about fixing the different printhead issues other second party technicians have used.
