HP Officejet Pro Plus

My HP Officejet Pro Plus 8600 has stopped accepting my new genuine HP ink cartridges purchased from the local Office Depot. After a recent update sent to my printer by HP, I got a message to replace my cyan ink. I replaced it with a genuine HP 951 Cyan cartridge CN050A made in Malaysia. This cartridge had no z10 printed on it.

2 days later the printer said the Cyan cartridge was damaged and needed replacement. I purchased a multi pack of ink from Office Depot, the 950XL and 951 in one box for $152, put the new Cyan ink in, which was made in Singapore, and continued to get the error that the Cyan cartridge needed replacing.

I uninstalled my printer, then reinstalled it hoping to update the drivers, software and firmware and things got worse! Now my printer is saying every ink cartridge is damaged and needs to be replaced. How is that possible when the other ink cartridges are full of ink and were working before I replaced the Cyan ink?  I have cleaned the connections on the ink cartridges, removed and reinstalled the cartridges and reset the printer several times.

All the ink cartridges currently in the printer are genuine HP 950XL-z10 and 951-z10 cartridges purchased at Office Depot in the U.S. The black ink is CN045AN and made in Malaysia.  The Yellow CN052AN, Cyan CN050AN and Magenta CN051AN are made in Singapore. The printer was bought in the USA at Office Depot. On the back of the printer it says product of China.

I don’t know what region the printer is set to. I feel I need a regional reset. Can anyone help?

Hi @Diane2024,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you move to a different country we need to perform a regional reset in order to make the printer work in the new region. I will surely help you with the Regional reset.

1. The printer should be connected using a printer USB cable to the computer.

2. You need to have the printer full feature software installed on your computer.

3. You need to have all the cartridges either from the region/country from where the printer was purchased originally or the new region/country to which you want to reset it to.

4. Make sure HP Smart App is installed too.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
