Hi @Pgood1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you’ve already tried quite a bit to resolve the issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 printing blank pages. Here are a few more troubleshooting steps that you can try.
Check Ink Cartridges:
- Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly seated and that their protective tape has been removed.
- Check for any signs of damage or leaks in the cartridges.
- If possible, try replacing the cartridges with new ones to see if that resolves the issue.
Perform a Printer Reset:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes resolve temporary glitches.
Update Firmware:
- Ensure that your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for updates through the HP Smart app or on HP’s support website.
Check for Paper Jam:
- Inspect the printer for any paper jams or obstructions that might be affecting the print quality.
Print Quality Diagnostic Report:
- Run a Print Quality Diagnostic Report from the printer's menu. This can sometimes identify issues with the printhead or ink system.
Check for Software or Driver Issues:
- Make sure that your printer drivers are up to date. You can download the latest drivers from the HP website.
Clean the Printhead Manually:
- If the automated cleaning did not help, you might need to clean the printhead manually. This involves removing the printhead and cleaning it with a lint-free cloth and a small amount of distilled water. Be sure to follow the printer’s manual for specific instructions.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
