My hp officejet pro 7440 always request for all the ink cartridge's to be preplace when only one is depleted. Once a depleted cartridge is replaced, the printer starts declaring others empty. thus I always have to replace all 4 cartridges when only one is used up.

Is this the Normal function design of the printer? if not, how can I correct it?

If you are still using the cartridges that came with the new printer then yes it's very possible all 4 are depleted.

Thank for your reply.  I have previously replaced all for cartridges on 3 occasions. Is there a setting I can alter to resolve it?

No, it could be a coincidence all cartridges were depleted.
