HP Officejet pro 8620 new print head installed, and initialization process won't complete.
NEW HP printhead installed w/4 new ink cartridges. Seemed do go ok.
Tried to print and it just kept showing a working icon nothing printed. Cancelled job.
Tried to shutdown/reboot got message saying it was in an initialization process and not to shut down or power off.
So I waited a long time and tried to print a status report from printer menu.
Got "printing report" message and working icon again... 30 minutes still doing it.
Have not tried opening unit and removing/reinstalling head yet but had NO error messages regarding the NEW head after I
installed it.
Any suggestions???? THANKS!

Hi @DFJ369,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd like to help!
- Restart the printer: Power off your printer, wait for about 10 seconds, and then power it back on. Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches.
- Check the printhead installation: Open the printer's access door or the cartridge access area and ensure that the printhead is securely installed. Remove the printhead and reinstall it properly, making sure it clicks into place. Refer to your printer's user manual or HP's support website for detailed instructions on how to install the printhead correctly.
- Clean the printhead contacts: Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cord. Open the access door to expose the printhead. Locate the electrical contacts on the printhead and clean them gently using a lint-free cloth or a coffee filter slightly dampened with distilled water. Be careful not to touch the nozzles or the copper-colored contacts.
- Update the printer firmware: Visit the official HP support website and search for the latest firmware available for your printer model. If there's an update, download and install it following the provided instructions. Firmware updates often address known issues and improve overall performance.
- Reset the printer: Resetting the printer can help clear any internal errors. Locate the "Restore Factory Defaults" or "Reset" option in your printer's settings menu. Select the option to reset the printer to its original factory settings. Keep in mind that this will remove any customized settings you've made.
