HP PHOTOSMART C4480 Message on printer states "Print cartridge incorrectly installed" but no true

Pop up on HP PHOTOSMART C4480 printer screen states "Print cartridge incorrectly installed" but bw and color cartridges do fit perfectly, not sure how to fix 

AND 

can this HP PHOTOSMART C4480 print with my current HP Pavilion laptop without a port  connection? the port for the printer does not fit into the laptop. Is there an adapter?

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Restart the Printer

1. Turn off the printer.
2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
3. Remove the cartridges.
4. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
5. Plug the power cord back in.
6. Wai for few minutes and then insert the cartridges (let printer prompt for cartridges)
7. Turn on the printer

• Typically, printers use a USB Type-B port, and computers use a USB Type-A port.
• Purchase a USB Type-A to USB Type-B cable if you do not have one.
