I purchased a HP PageWide Pro 477dw a few years back. It had very light use since it was purchased and HP ink has always been used/installed. During Covid, the printer went into storage - I took it out of storage last year and it has not worked properly since. I have replaced the ink, cleaned the printer heads and replaced the duplex unit (as someone said that may be the issue), to no avail. I don't know what else to try and am reluctant to buy another printer given how little this one has been used. 20250106_104846.jpg

Thank you for reaching out!

It sounds like you've taken several good steps towards resolving the issues with your HP PageWide Pro 477dw. When a printer has been in storage for a while, several factors can affect its functionality. Here are some troubleshooting steps you might consider:

  1. Check for Firmware Updates:

    • Ensure that the printer's firmware is up to date. You can visit the HP Support page to download the latest firmware for your model.
  2. Run a Hard Reset:

    • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
    • Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on. This can help clear out any temporary errors.
  3. Perform Printhead Maintenance:

    • Even if you've cleaned the printheads already, try running the printhead cleaning utility in the printer settings again. Sometimes multiple cleanings are necessary to solve nozzle issues.
  4. Use the HP Print and Scan Doctor:

    • This is a free tool provided by HP that can help diagnose and solve printing problems. You can download it from HP's website and follow the instructions to troubleshoot your printer.
  5. Inspect for Paper Jams or Obstructions:

    • Check all printer compartments for paper jams or pieces of paper lodged inside, especially around the printhead area.
  6. Check Printer Settings:

    • Ensure the printer settings are correctly configured for the type of print job you are trying to complete. Sometimes settings can reset or change after long periods of non-use.
  7. Verify Ink Levels and Installation:

    • Make sure that the new ink cartridges are installed properly and that they are genuine HP cartridges. Non-genuine cartridges can sometimes cause issues.
