It sounds like your HP Smart Tank 6001 is experiencing a print cartridge error (HP 871e4c) affecting both black and color ink. 

 

Since the virtual assistant’s suggestions didn’t resolve the issue, here are some additional steps to try:

 

Check Ink Levels

  • Ensure that both black and color ink tanks have sufficient ink.
  • If the ink appears full but isn’t printing, try refilling the tanks slightly to ensure proper flow.

Remove and Reinstall Printheads

  • Open the printer’s front panel and carefully remove both printheads.
  • Wipe the gold contacts with a lint-free cloth and reinstall them securely.

Perform a Printhead Cleaning

  • On the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printheads.
  • Run multiple cleaning cycles if necessary.

Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it for 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Check for Firmware Updates

  • HP may have released a fix for this issue.
  • Visit HP’s support page and check for any new firmware updates.

  • Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose cartridge-related problems.
