Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I acquired a working HP Smart Tank 7301 printer.  I installed it on the network through USB, then connected it to in-house private network. I do not want to use the wireless part of the printer and it is turned off for security reasons.   The first day I installed the printer to the network it printed fine all network jobs.  A few days later it will not print at all. It will print out diagnostic print jobs sent to it over the network but no actual print jobs.  Does this HP printer require a constant internet wireless connection to print any jobs out like many of the newer HP printers requiring a constant internet wireless connection?  It just sits there not doing anything as the print queue piles up.

Hi @PrinterTech7,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that you are facing an issue with your printer that is not printing.

A) Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain.

1) Take out the cartridges

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges

B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.

I thought HP people do their homework, like looking up what kind or type of the printer it is I mentioned in my question.  The HP 7301 is a ink tank printer. It does not have any cartridges to take out and put back in.  It has four individual refillable ink tanks that cannot be removed physically from the printer. I did the power recycle as you suggested and it did not fix anything.  I do not want to update the firmware.  I merely asked if this type printer is a DRM type printer or not. The HP documentation on this printer does not say whether it is a DRM printer or not, and would not say if the printer would print if it is connected to the internet.  I am on a network wired system and rather stay that way because it stays off the internet.  I can print system diagnostic messages to this printer over the wired network but no print jobs.   This looks symptomatic of DRM printers.  I am asking whether to you or HP confirm if the HP 7301 is a DRM printer which require a constant internet connection or not.
