HP Smart Tank 750 All-in-One

HP Smart Tank 750 Missing Cyan Color, The printer is not printing colors correctly. Green prints as yellow, and blue prints as pastel violet. I printed the diagnostic page and found that the cyan color in Test Pattern 2 is completely missing. I have already performed printhead cleaning, but the problem persists.

Hello @cinyan, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP Smart Tank 750 printer.

We appreciate the opportunity to assist you and are glad we could help work toward a resolution. We hope our support has been valuable.

Since cyan is completely missing in Test Pattern 2 on the Print Quality Diagnostic Page, and printhead cleaning did not resolve it, follow these steps in order.

1. Check Cyan Ink Level and Refill if Needed

  1. Look at the ink tanks on the printer and confirm the cyan tank has sufficient ink.
  2. If the cyan level is low: - Place the cyan ink bottle on the cyan tank spout and refill until it reaches the marked fill line.

Make sure you are using genuine HP ink.

2. Verify Paper and Print Settings (to rule out non-hardware causes)

  1. Use clean, wrinkle‑free paper; for documents, plain paper with ColorLok works best.
  2. Load paper with the correct print side (glossy/smoother side as print side).
  3. In your print dialog (File > Print > Preferences/Options): - Confirm the correct paper type, size, and “Color” printing is selected. - Set print quality to Normal or Best.

3. Clean Ink Smears (HP App)

  1. Open the HP Smart app and select your Smart Tank 750.
  2. Go to Tools > Alignment & Maintenance.
    - If not visible, open Advanced Settings, then Tools > Utilities > Print Quality Toolbox.
  3. Under Clean Up, select Clean Smear / Clean Ink Smear and let the process complete.

4. Reprint the Print Quality Diagnostic Page

  1. On the printer control panel, press and hold the Information button Info for 5 seconds (support mode).
  2. Press and hold the Color Copy button Color Copy for 3 seconds.
  3. Review the new Print Quality Diagnostic Page.

  • If cyan is still missing or heavily defective, continue.

5. Deep Clean the Printhead (HP App)

You mentioned already cleaning the printhead; ensure you’ve run the deeper levels:

  1. Load plain white paper.
  2. In HP Smart, open your printer > Tools > Print Quality Tools.
  3. Select Clean Printhead / Clean.
  4. When the test page prints: - If quality is still poor, select Yes in HP App to run second‑level and third‑level cleaning (these are more thorough and take a few minutes).
  5. If cyan remains missing, wait at least 30 minutes and, if prompted, run another cleaning cycle.

6. Replace the Printheads (if cyan still does not print)

If the diagnostic page still shows no cyan after refilling ink and multiple cleanings, the cyan/tri‑color printhead is likely failing and needs replacement. Follow the instructions from HP for your Smart Tank 750 to replace the affected printhead.

Have a great day!
