I have cleaned printer heads, run the alignment tools, restarted the printer, yet printing a test page contains no yellow. I first noticed this about three weeks ago when I tried to print a photo. The colors were dark and a bit off. When I dove deeper, I realized the yellow was not working at all. The print tank for yellow is full and barely used since my purchase in Feb 2024. Yes, the printer is out of warrantee.
Please recommend a course of action. This is an expensive printer and should not have failed in this way this soon after purchase.
Thanks,
Mike Young

Hi @Mike1493
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Thanks for explaining everything so clearly—it’s genuinely frustrating when a well-maintained printer suddenly stops delivering color accuracy, especially when the yellow tank is full and barely used.
Let’s walk through a thorough set of steps to help restore yellow ink output on your HP Smart Tank 7602.
Check Software and Printer Settings:
- Ensure that no print settings or software configurations are inadvertently limiting yellow ink usage. Navigate to your print settings and verify that the color options are correctly set to use all colors.
Perform a Printhead Cleaning:
- Even if you’ve already cleaned the print heads, it might be beneficial to perform another round of cleaning. Use the printer's software or control panel to initiate a more thorough cleaning of the printhead.
Verify Ink Levels and Connections:
- Double-check that the yellow ink tank is securely connected and ink levels are accurately detected by the printer. Sometimes an improper connection or blockage can cause issues in ink flow.
Inspect for Blockages or Clogs:
- Verify that there are no blockages in the yellow ink tank or its path to the print head. If possible, manually inspect and gently clear any visible clogs in the ink delivery system.
Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:
- Ensure that your printer drivers are up-to-date. Visit HP's official website to download and install the latest drivers and firmware updates for your printer model.
Run Another Printhead Alignment:
- Perform another printhead alignment to ensure that all jets are functioning correctly. This can often resolve issues with color alignment and ink dispersal.
Let me know how far you get with these steps. You’ve clearly taken great care of the printer—it deserves to work just as hard for you.
