Hi @Sweeper13 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the password the HP Smart app is asking for when you try to access the printer's advanced settings (web interface) is typically the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) password. Here are a few ways you can find or reset it:

1. Default Admin Password Find the wireless network password or PIN to connect an HP printer

  • Some HP printers come with a default admin password, which can be either:
    • "admin" (without quotes) or
    • **The 8-digit PIN (usually found on a label under the printer or the back of the printer).
  • If these don't work, it means the password has likely been changed.

2. Check in HP Smart App (Mobile) HP printer setup (HP Smart app)

  • Sometimes, the HP Smart app (mobile version) can show the current EWS password. Open the app on your mobile device, connect to the printer, and look under the Network Information section.

3. Reset Printer to Factory Settings

If you can't find or recover the password, you might need to reset the printer to factory settings. This will restore the default password but will also remove any customized settings. Here’s how to reset:

  • On the printer's control panel, navigate to Settings > Restore Settings > Restore Network Settings or Restore All Settings (depending on the printer model).
  • After resetting, the printer will use the default EWS password, which could be "admin" or the 8-digit PIN.

Refer to this document: HP ENVY 6065e All-in-One Printer User manual

Use the HP printer Embedded Web Server (EWS)

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for the reply....When I first connected the printer I went old school and connected thru usb. I didn't want the printer connected thru Wi-Fi. That's what caused my password issue.  I ended up doing the factory reset and installed the printer again. This time, I installed HP Smart app (pc) connected the Wi-Fi  and then using the HP Smart app ( phone) added the printer.  When I went into the printer settings thru HP Smart app (pc) , the password  under the scanner screen label worked. Now I'm able to have access to all the settings. Thanks again.
