HP DesignJet T520 36-in Printer

Ordered new Genuine HP print head for over $300. Replaced the print head and get an error message there is not enough ink to complete setup. The kit comes with new cartridges I installed! HP support is horrible and they are a complete rip-off when it comes to purchasing any of their supplies that DON'T work!. I'm done!

Hello STJICE,

Thank you for posting your concern,

I do apologise for new PHA error, Ink Setup Error on HP DesignJet T520

If you're receiving an error message on your HP DesignJet T520 stating that there is not enough ink to complete the setup, even after installing new printheads and cartridges, here are some steps you can try:

  1. Verify Cartridge Installation:

    • Ensure that all the new cartridges are seated properly in their respective slots. Remove and reinsert them to ensure proper contact.
    • Ensure that the correct cartridges were installed for the HP DesignJet T520 model.
  2. Check Ink Levels:

    • Even with new cartridges, sometimes errors can occur if the printer fails to recognize the ink levels. Make sure there is no protective tape left on the cartridges when installing them.
  3. Perform a Power Cycle:

    • Turn off your printer and unplug the power cable.
    • Wait for about a minute, then plug the power cable back in and turn on your printer.
  4. Reset the Printer:

    • Sometimes resetting the printer can clear internal errors. You can perform a reset by turning off the printer, unplugging it, waiting a few minutes, and turning it back on.
  5. Firmware Update:

    • Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date. Visit the HP support website to download the latest firmware for your printer model. This can help in resolving any recognition issues with cartridges.
  6. Check for Blockages:

    • Open the printer and check for any residual packaging materials that might be obstructing the cartridge sensors or printhead path.
  7.  I would request to try other old/new inks if that would works , if same press and hold the power button till its goes in support menu>Access 3.5 Reset PHA Startup Condition,Type 'PIN' number 2873, and select OK.
  8. Contact HP Support:

    • If the error persists, it may be necessary to contact HP Customer Support for further assistance, as there might be a hardware issue that requires professional attention.

For further assistance or detailed steps, visiting the HP Support Website for your specific printer model can provide additional resources.
