I changed the cartridge with an HP cartridge in yellow and red. The yellow is fine, but the msg I get is that the red is not an HP cartridge. What can I do?

Hi @Taxlady2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018e is indicating that the red (magenta) cartridge is not an HP cartridge, even though you believe it is genuine, here are a few steps you can take to resolve this issue:

  1. Reinstall the Cartridge: Remove the magenta cartridge from the printer, inspect it for any obstructions or packaging material such as protective tape, and then reinstall it. Make sure it clicks securely into place.

  2. Clean the Contacts: Gently clean the electrical contacts on the cartridge and in the cartridge slot with a lint-free cloth to remove any dirt or residue that might be affecting the connection. Ensure the printer is turned off before doing this.

  3. Restart the Printer: Sometimes, simply restarting the printer can resolve the issue. Turn off the printer, wait a few seconds, and then turn it back on.

  4. Check Firmware Updates: Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. You can check for updates through the HP Smart app or by visiting the HP OfficeJet Pro 9018e All-in-One Printer | HP® Support.

  5. Validate the Cartridge: Double-check that the magenta cartridge is indeed a genuine HP cartridge. Look for the holographic security label on the package and verify it using HP’s online validation tool if available.

Following these steps should help resolve the issue with the cartridge recognition on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018e.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
