I bought a printer in Costa Rica : HP laser MFP 135W
I bought HP cartridges in France.
I'm back to Costa Rica and my printer says french cartridges are not compatible.
There may be a protection but I don't know how to remove.

Can you help me ?

Hi @Fred_GP,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Laser MFP 135W printer is refusing a compatible cartridge, there could be a few possible reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem.

  • Ensure Compatibility: Double-check that the cartridge you are trying to install is indeed compatible with your HP Laser MFP 135W printer. Make sure it is designed for your specific printer model and has the correct cartridge number.
  • Remove and Reinstall: Remove the cartridge from the printer and reinsert it carefully. Ensure that it is properly seated and fully inserted into the correct cartridge slot.
  • Clean Contacts: Sometimes, the metal contacts on both the cartridge and the printer can accumulate dust or debris, which may interfere with the connection. Use a clean, lint-free cloth or cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol to gently clean the contacts on both the cartridge and the printer. Allow them to dry completely before reinserting the cartridge.
  • Update Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP Laser MFP 135W printer. Visit the official HP website and download the latest firmware for your printer model. Follow the instructions provided by HP to update the printer's firmware.
  • Restart Printer: Power off your printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute or two, and then plug it back in. Turn the printer on and check if it recognizes the compatible cartridge now.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Dear Alden4,
Thank you for your suggestion to contact https://www.hp.com/contacthp/
Nobody there can be contacted !

I guess there is no solution to this trick from HP and nobody want to tell customers...
I am really upset that my 3 cartridges, bought very expensive price to HP, have to be thrown to the bin.

I don't think I will buy another HP printer in future if this case is not solved.
How come HP offers "limited support"? this is inacceptable.
