We provide printer support and supplies to companies.  We have a large company that has many HP m607, M608, M610 printers in their fleet.  They have been replacing a lot of fusers.  They have mentioned ghosting and fuser sleeve damage.  Is anyone experiencing a lot higher incidences of failing fusers?  Are these fusers a lot more delicate than older models?

Page count for each fuser before replacement?

Paper that is used for printing?

Toner used genuine or not?

I don’t know the page count of the fuser. However I know the count is far from end of life.

They have been using 4250, p4015,m602, m605 and now replacing some of the older printers with the m607,m608, m610.

They print on standard plain paper and used both OEM and after market toner.

I understand what causes ghosting and ripped fuser sleeves and damaged lower pressure rollers.

I think I may have asked the wrong question.  My question should’ve been:

compared to the previous generations of HP printers above, has anyone noticed if the m607,608,610,612 printer fuser have more issues?  Especially when the machines are just a few months old?

It seems that most of the issues would be ghosting or possibly damaged sleeves or lower pressure rollers.

like the HP m477, m452 the lower pressure roller would be damaged much more easier and frequently because either there isn’t a pressure release lever on the fuser or there is a plastic like coating that tears when the user pulls jammed paper out of the fuser.

I’m wondering if the new printers have a design change that causes a frequent fuser problem when compare to the older printers.  Whether it be a firmware problem that causes the fuser to not stay hot or sleeves that are made up of different material like the HP 4200 vs. 4250 models.

We have seen some ghosting issues, but those are resolved 99% of the time by ensuring that firmware is up to date and setting the moisture control mode to alternate. Keep in mind that fuser life ratings are based on 10 page print jobs. Single page print jobs can reduce expected page count life of fuser by over half.
