Hp Officejet Pro 8025e
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP 8025e won't let me use generic cartridges, says   "the indicated cartridges have been identified as altered or clone". I went into the settings menu, located "cartridge protection" and it was already off.  I selected it again to make sure it was set in the off position then restarted the printer. That didn't work so I tried it again with the same results. I know that HP recommends the use of their cartridges but I should be able to use a different brand also. Please help

In this instance, we cannot provide the answer (that) you want.

What?

  • This printer is protected by Dynamic Security.
  • The printer requires use of HP Chipped cartridges.
  • Be they refilled or re-manufactured, the cartridges must have that HP chip.
  • There is no legal way to bypass the security.
  • Each firmware update, from the first one onward, (re)enforces the security.

If you believe your cartridges are HP Chipped, ask your ink supplier to verify they do use HP Chipped cartridges.

What about...

"Cartridge Protection" is not what you believe it to be.

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Tab Settings > Supplies > Supply Settings > Cartridge Protection = OFF or ON

OR

New format EWS

Open your Browser > Type / enter the Printer IP address into URL / Address bar

Section Supplies > tab Supply Settings > Cartridge Protection = OFF or ON

What is Cartridge Protection?

The Cartridge Protection feature permanently protects cartridges for use in only one fleet of products or product to help prevent theft.

If, after cartridges have been protected, they are moved to a device outside the fleet (fleet based) or to a different printer (printer based), these cartridges will be identified as protected and will have to be replaced to continue printing.

Note:

When you turn on this feature, all cartridges installed in the printer will be protected. However, if you turn off this feature again, these cartridges will remain protected. Only cartridges installed afterwards will not have cartridge protection enabled.
