Hi @Lyghtoller

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Your HP OfficeJet Pro 8620 may not be permanently damaged, but repeated printhead failures within months of replacement suggest either a deeper hardware fault or environmental factors affecting printhead longevity.

Here’s a professional and focused recovery path to help you assess and possibly revive your printer:

1. Confirm Printhead Status

If the printer displays a “printhead failure” or “missing printhead” error:

  • Open the ink access door and check that the printhead is seated firmly.
  • Remove and reinstall the printhead gently, ensuring all contacts align.
  • Make sure all ink cartridges are at least 25% full—low ink can block calibration.

2. Recalibrate the Printhead

After any reset or reseating, calibration is essential.

  • Load plain white paper into the tray.
  • From the printer’s touchscreen, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Align Printhead.
  • Follow the prompts to complete alignment.

If the printer fails to print the alignment page or throws an error, continue below.

3. Clean Printhead Contacts

Electrostatic discharge or ink residue can cause intermittent failures.

  • Power off the printer and unplug it.
  • Remove the printhead and cartridges.
  • Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water to clean:
    • Printhead copper contacts
    • Cartridge contacts
  • Let everything dry for 10 minutes before reinstalling.

You're not alone in this—let’s get your OfficeJet back to clean, confident printing.
