I ordered a new cartridge from HP, HP 305xl for an HP Deskjet 4122e;  but it will not work.  I have done all the tests as directed by AI assistant.  The old cartridge is recognised, but the replacement HP sent does not.  How do I get a refund?

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

 

Check the Cartridge

Make sure that the plastic tape covering the ink cartridge’s contacts (usually a small plastic strip) is removed before installation.

 

Reinstall the Cartridge

Remove the HP 305XL cartridge and reinstall it properly, ensuring it clicks into place securely.

Check for any foreign objects or ink residue inside the cartridge slot or on the printer’s contacts. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the contacts (both on the cartridge and the printer).

 

Restart the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
  3. Remove the cartridges.
  4. Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.
  5. Plug the power cord back in.
  6. Wai for few minutes and then insert the cartridges (let printer prompt for cartridges)
  7. Turn on the printer

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor (Windows only):

Update Printer Firmware (Update the firmware on an HP printer | HP® Support)

  • Go to the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page. Enter your printer model number and search for the latest firmware update. Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.
