HP ENVY 7640 e-All-in-One Printer

My printer won't print in Black Ink and I've tried two brand new cartridges from HP I get from their automatic replenishment system. It was working fine till my last cartridge was low on ink and I installed the new cartridges. I did every test procedure there was and nothing worked. The test page did show in the different colors correctly and I don't understand why there's actually a little black that does show on that that came out okay. I took all the little tape off the cartridges and it doesn't say anything about not being installed correctly. The ink levels on the application all show completely full with either cartridge I tried. Not too sure what else I can check and don't understand why there is even a problem.

I understand you've already taken several troubleshooting steps to address the issue with your HP ENVY 7640 printer not printing in black ink. 

 

Here are a few additional steps you can try:

 

Clean the printhead: Sometimes, the printhead can get clogged with dried ink, especially if the printer hasn't been used for a while or if the cartridges were recently replaced. Most printers have a utility for cleaning the printhead. You can usually find this option in the printer settings or maintenance menu on your computer or directly on the printer's control panel.

Manually clean the printhead: If the automated printhead cleaning doesn't work, you can try manually cleaning the printhead. To do this, remove the black ink cartridge and use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to gently wipe the printhead. Be careful not to touch the electrical contacts or nozzles on the cartridge. Allow the printhead to dry completely before reinserting the cartridge and trying to print again.

Check for firmware updates: Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve printing issues. Check the HP website or use the HP Smart app to see if there are any updates available for your printer's firmware. Software and Drivers for HP ENVY 7640 e-All-in-One Printer series

Reset the printer: Try resetting the printer to its default settings. This can often resolve various issues. You can usually find the option to reset the printer in the settings menu on the printer's control panel.
