HELP PLEASE - GOING CRAZY WITH THIS AND TRYING TO GET TO SPEAK TO AN ACTUAL PERSON AT HP IS PROVING IMPOSSIBLE. (customer service certainly not what it was)
I have an HP7740 A3 printer, that I have not used for a long while because the ink cartridges are so expensive. I have a project to do that requires A3 printing, I do not need to print in colour, so I just purchased a genuine black cartridge, and when printing selected print in black only.
However, the printer is showing the following error message 'This printer is not designed to use continuous ink systems. To resume printing remove continuous ink system and install original HP (or compatible ) cartridges'
Do all cartridges have to have ink in them for the printer to work ? as although the colour cartridges are in place, they are all empty.
Does anyone know how to fix this please ?

Thanks for the response, I have clicked on the link, however the message I am getting is not listed. Information reads as follows ...
932, 933, 950, 951-959, 962-969 cartridges:
Ink is required in all cartridges to print and to perform periodic servicing to prevent clogs and other print quality issues. There is no way to bypass this feature.
If one of the following messages displays, replace the indicated cartridge to continue printing.
The cartridges above must be replaced to resume printing
Cartridges Depleted
Depleted cartridges must be replaced to resume printing
The actual message displayed on the printer reads.
This printer is not designed to use continuous ink systems, To resume printing remove continuous ink system and install original HP (or compatible) cartridges
The C,M,Y and K cartridges are in place but empty, IF I replace them, is this going to solve the problem. I am very wary of spending more money on this printer, (as the ink cartridges are very expensive) when the information summary options above, does not actually match with the displayed message on the printer.

You are welcome.
Yes, I understand you are uncomfortable.
Replacing the cartridges will work if that is the only source of the problem.
Regardless of the exact wording, it appears that you must replace the cartridges to move forward.
No, I cannot guarantee this is the only reason the printer is not working. Regardless, I'm not in a position where a promise would mean anything to you.
True - the ink is expensive.
Stuck - can't move forward ---
Perhaps find another way to print your current projects while you decide what you want to do. For example ask a friend, colleague for help, or -- if the option is available in your area - copy what you want to print onto a USB stick and take the files to a print shop.
