Printer HP Officejet Pro 8720  

Purchased ink from OfficeMax. As ink is depleted I have removed and replaced cartridges without any problem. Today HP 951XL ran out, I pulled out the old and tried to insert the new cartridge but it will not snap in. Have tried all the suggestions to no avail.  I can put the used ink cartridge in, it will snap and lock.  But not the new ink cartridge, I suspect I have a defected cartridge. Is there any way work around to have new cartridge snapped in?

The Officejet Pro 8720 uses HP 952 color 952 XL cartridges in the US, see here for confirmation.  The HP 951 cartridges are used in the Officejet Pro 8600 series printers.

 

You will need to replace the cartridge with a 952 or 952XL if you have an Officejet Pro 8720 printer.

The Officejet Pro 8720 uses HP 952 color 952 XL cartridges in the US, see here for confirmation.  The HP 951 cartridges are used in the Officejet Pro 8600 series printers.

Thank you! My husband uses the 951 ink and when he bought some for us, he gave me the wrong ink.  After I posted this help I took a step back and finally figured out what he did.  I appreciate your help and I thank you! 🙂
