I just tried to replace one of my HP952XL cartridges with an HP Cartridge (not a generic) and the printer will not accept it stating it is an older version of the 952 cartridge, but that the cartridge might work in older models of the printer. While the cartridge is older (it was an extra box of cartridges I just discovered), how can the HP Printer software reject an authentic HP cartridge number that that they state is compatible with the printer?
One more reason why this HP printer will be my last HP product.

Thanks Valsimot. I figured there was new uploaded firmware to the printer that HP. It's unacceptable for HP to control printers to that level, especially when it is obviously a feature added solely to make their customers purchase more of their cartridges.
