HPF4480 prints blank pages.  It runs fine.  It just doesn't print. I have cleaned cartridge heads, turned it off and on many times.  Disconnected and reconnected many times.  Switched out cartridges for new.  I have tried everything and it still prints blanks.

Hi @Anita-6_Neff ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Deskjet F4488 All-in-One Printer is printing blank pages despite running normally and attempting multiple troubleshooting steps, the issue could be related to software, hardware, or settings. Here's a comprehensive troubleshooting guide:

1. Confirm Printer Hardware Functionality

  • Print a Self-Test Page:
    • Press and hold the Cancel button and then press the Start Copy Color button.
    • Release both buttons.
    • If the self-test page is also blank, the issue is likely hardware-related (printhead or cartridge).

2. Check Cartridge and Printhead Alignment

  • Clean and Align the Printhead:
    • Access the printer's maintenance settings through the software or control panel.
    • Run both printhead cleaning and alignment processes.
    • Check if the printed alignment page is blank.
  • Inspect the Cartridge Contacts:
    • Turn off the printer and remove the cartridges.
    • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to clean the electrical contacts (copper-colored areas) on the cartridges and inside the printer.

3. Verify Cartridge Functionality

  • Ensure you are using genuine HP cartridges. Third-party or refilled cartridges can sometimes cause issues.
  • Replace with a new set of cartridges, even if the current ones appear new. Rarely, defective cartridges occur.

4. Driver and Software Issues

  • Uninstall and Reinstall the Printer Driver:
    • Uninstall the current printer driver from your computer.
    • Download the latest driver for the HP Deskjet F4488 from HP’s official website.
    • Install the new driver and attempt to print a document.

5. Printer Queue and Settings

  • Reset the Printer Queue:
    • Clear any stuck print jobs in the printer queue.
    • Restart the Print Spooler service on your computer.
  • Check Paper and Print Settings:
    • Open the print dialog box and verify the paper type matches the loaded paper.
    • Ensure the ink levels are not showing as depleted in the software.

6. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for 5 minutes and plug it back in.
  • This can reset internal configurations and resolve unknown glitches.

7. Update Firmware

  • Download and install any available firmware updates for your printer from HP's official support page.

Thank you for your detailed response.  I tried everything you suggested.  I ordered new cartridges - it seems the problem  was dried out cartridges.   I'm sure your suggestions helped too.
