I have just replaced the cartridges in my brand new HP Deskjet 2700 printer and am getting an error message that both cartridges are still empty, I have turned it off, plugged it out, cleaned heads and still getting the error message
Can someone please tell me how to resolve short of bringing this pile of junk back to the shop

Hi @MP_14,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're having trouble with your HP DeskJet 2721e All-In-One Printer. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue:
Verify Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the cartridges you installed are the correct ones for your printer model. For the HP DeskJet 2721e, you typically need HP 305 cartridges (or HP 305XL for higher yield).
Check Cartridge Installation: Remove the cartridges and reinstall them. Make sure they click into place properly. Sometimes, cartridges can be slightly out of alignment, causing the printer to not recognize them.
Clean Cartridge Contacts: Use a clean, lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridges. Also, clean the corresponding contacts inside the printer. Allow the contacts to dry before reinserting the cartridges.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn on the printer if it is not already on.
- With the printer on, disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and the wall outlet.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the wall outlet and then to the printer.
- Turn the printer back on.
Update Printer Firmware: Ensure that your printer firmware is up to date. You can download and install the latest firmware from the HP Support website. Update the firmware on an HP printer
Run HP Print and Scan Doctor: Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, a free tool to diagnose and resolve printing problems. You can find it here. HP Print and Scan Doctor
Check for Blockages: Make sure there are no obstructions or packaging materials left inside the printer.
Align the Printer: Sometimes aligning the printer can help. Go to the printer settings and look for an option to align the cartridges or perform a test print.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
