Hi @Muhammad72

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd like to help!

Solution one: Remove the black cartridge

If you just set up your printer and you notice that black ink is missing or faded on your printouts, follow these steps to remove the black cartridge and print only with the tri-color cartridge. This allows the printer to operate in single-cartridge mode, which creates composite black from the tri-color cartridge.
  1. Turn on the printer.
  2. Locate the slots on the left and right sides of the printer.

  3. Slide your fingers into the two slots, and then gently lift up to open the cartridge access door. The carriage moves to the cartridge access area.
Figure : Open the cartridge access door

  4. Wait until the carriage is idle and silent before you continue.
  5. To release the cartridge, lift the lid on the cartridge slot, and then gently push the lid back until it stops.
  6. Pull up on the black cartridge to remove it from the slot.

    1. Lift the lid
    2. Gently push the lid back
    3. Pull up on the cartridge
  7. Set the black cartridge aside, with the nozzles facing up.

  8. Close the cartridge access door.

  9. Try the print job again.
    • If the printer operates correctly in single-cartridge mode, let the black cartridge rest with the nozzles facing up for several hours or overnight, reinstall it, and then try to print again. If you are satisfied with the print quality, you can stop troubleshooting.
    • If the printer does not operate correctly in single-cartridge mode or you are not satisfied with the print quality after you reinstall the black cartridge, continue to the next solution.

Solution two: Use genuine HP cartridges

HP recommends that you use genuine HP ink or toner supplies. HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP or refilled cartridges. If you do not use genuine HP cartridges, the steps in this document might not resolve the issue. To check the authenticity of your cartridges, go to the HP anti-counterfeit webpage (in English).
Purchase replacement cartridges and other supplies from the HP Store or local retailers.

Hi @Muhammad72,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Color printing issues with a printer like the HP Envy 5530 can be caused by various factors, including hardware and software issues. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and determine the cause of the problem.

  • Check Ink Levels: Ensure that the color ink cartridges have sufficient ink. Most printers, including the HP Envy 5530, provide an option to check ink levels through the printer software or control panel.
  • Run Printer Diagnostics: Many printers have built-in diagnostic tools that can help identify and resolve common issues. Check your printer's manual or user guide for instructions on how to run diagnostic tests.
  • Clean Print Heads: Over time, print heads can become clogged with dried ink, leading to print quality issues. Most printers have a utility for cleaning the print heads. Consult your printer manual for instructions on how to perform this task.
  • Align Print Heads: Some printers allow you to align the print heads to ensure proper color registration. Look for the alignment option in your printer settings and follow the instructions.
  • Update Printer Drivers: Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed. Visit the HP website to download and install the most up-to-date drivers for your HP Envy 5530.
  • Check for Software Updates: Ensure that your printer software is up-to-date. Check for updates through the HP website or the software that came with your printer.
  • Try a Test Page: Print a test page to see if the issue persists. This can help you identify whether the problem is specific to certain applications or if it's a broader issue.
  • Inspect Color Settings: Make sure that your color settings are configured correctly. Check both the printer settings and the settings within the application you are printing from.
  • Check for Error Messages: Look for any error messages on the printer display or in the software. Error messages can provide clues about the nature of the problem.

If, after trying these steps, the issue persists, it's possible that there may be a hardware problem with the color ink cartridge or the print head.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
