I have a Laserjet Tank Printer Model No. is  MFP 2606 sdw. For a few days, a horizontal stripe was appearing on the print from this printer. The printer manual shows that the capacity of the drum of this printer is 50,000 prints. When I checked how many prints have been made, the drum had done 45,000 thousand prints. Even so, I changed the drum of this printer. Then I saw somewhere that after changing the drum of this printer, before printing, some old prints that have been given have to be reset. I am adding the link here for when we had changed the new drum Please copy this link and paste any internet browser you will direct open video printing pageprinting page

above picture is printing images that problematic

(https://youtu.be/WFT0bdIFdZw?si=8duWfKKgnmzkD_nu) But I did not reset this printer. And after inserting the new drum, I gave a direct print. So the horizontal stripe is still appearing on the print. And my problem is not solved. Please help. Can anyone tell me if this problem is not resolved because I did not reset the printer or if there is some other problem?

Hi @jumore_sandy,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Horizontal banding can be caused by multiple factors, not only drum wear, so let’s go through this step-by-step:

1. Reset after Drum Replacement
For the HP LaserJet Tank MFP 2606sdw, a reset isn’t strictly mandatory after replacing the drum, but it is recommended so the printer can recalibrate. Without it, the printer might still use the old drum calibration data, which can sometimes cause print defects.

You can perform the reset by going into Menu → Setup → Maintenance → Drum Reset (or similar, depending on firmware version).

2. Check for Other Possible Causes
Even with a new drum, horizontal banding may be due to:

Toner cartridge issues – uneven toner distribution or low toner. Try gently shaking the toner cartridge to redistribute toner.

Dirty transfer roller – if toner or paper dust builds up, it can cause repeating marks or bands. Cleaning it can help.

Fuser wear – after ~45k prints, the fuser can also begin showing defects.

Print settings – make sure paper type in settings matches the actual paper loaded.

3. Recommended Steps

Perform a drum reset/calibration.

Print a cleaning page from the printer’s maintenance menu.

If banding persists, try swapping in another toner cartridge to rule out toner feed issues.

If the problem remains after the above steps, the fuser or transfer roller may need inspection or replacement — an HP Authorized Service Center can test these parts quickly.

I hope this helps.
