How do I disable Cartridge Protection? I'm satisfied with my ink supplier. I've tried this advice:

Cartridge Protection can be disabled by going to your printer EWS web page by inputting the Printers IP address into your web browser.  Then navigate to Cartridge Protection and make sure it is disabled. If enabled, those cartridges you just put in can only be used in that printer, period.  No way to reverse it.

When I get to this page, and search Cartridge Protection, I get "no results". I can't see a way to navigate to Cartridge Protection. I've spent a lot of time online trying to answer my question.

@ConfusedOne976, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP Cartridge Protection for 8010 Series!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

To disable Cartridge Protection for your HP OfficeJet 8015e printer, you need to access the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS) and configure the settings accordingly. Follow these steps:

Use the HP Embedded Web Server (EWS) to Disable the Cartridge Protection Feature

Find Printer's IP Address:

  • On your printer control panel, press the Home button.
  • Navigate to and open the Setup menu.
  • Select Network Setup and then General Settings.
  • On the General Settings menu, select Show IP Address, and then choose Yes to display the printer’s IP address.

Access HP Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  • Open a web browser on your computer.
  • Enter the printer’s IP address or host name into the address/URL field and press Enter. This will open the EWS webpage. If a message displays indicating that the website might be unsafe, select the option to continue to the website. Accessing this website will not harm your computer.

Navigate to Cartridge Protection Settings:

  • On the EWS Home page, click the Settings tab.
  • In the left navigation pane, click Supplies to expand the options.
  • Click Supply Settings.
  • In the Cartridge Protection area, click the drop-down menu and select Off.

Apply Changes:

  • Click Apply to save the changes.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
