My black inkjet cartridge is no longer printing. It's fairly new, and the indicator shows ink is at least 1/2 remaining.
How can I make a warranty claim?

@MrLonzo, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.
I understand the black ink cartridge is not working. To assist you better, what is the error?
Check if the ink cartridges are properly inserted in the printer, you may refer to - Replace HP inkjet printer cartridges
Kindly perform the steps mentioned in this document - Ink cartridge error
Insert the old ink cartridge and check for the error. If no error, then the new one is defective
If the error persists with 2 different ink cartridges, it could be an issue with the printer.
Please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the replacement options for the defective HP ink cartridges or the printer.
You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.

I tried a different cartridge -- it worked fine. The problem is a defective cartridge, warranty to June 2022. HP provides no guidance on how to make a warranty claim. There are no such options anywhere on the HP support pages. There is no way to call a live person on the phone.
As I've always used HP printers, I've gone through hundreds of cartridges, and only 1 time previously had a defective one. That was years ago when HP had a phone number you could call and actually talk with someone. They accepted the warranty claim over the phone and replaced it. Now, HP no longer offers such support. I will keep that in mind next time I buy a new printer.
I saw somewhere that the defective cartridge can be returned to the retailer, but good luck if you no longer have your receipt and threw out all the packaging. Luckily, I buy my inkjet cartridges at Costco who has a very easy return policy, and that's what I will try.

Yes, you may check if the store will replace it for you.
If not, you may create a case as mentioned in my previous post to reach HP Support for a replacement.
Keep me posted for any other assistance.
