I purchased non- Hp printer cartridges and I was able to use one but now the other two are being rejected by the printer.  Is there any way to override the printer so I can use the non- HP cartridges?

Hi @KTC1955,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Overriding a printer to use non-HP printer cartridges is not recommended and may void your printer's warranty. However, if you still wish to proceed, please keep in mind that the methods for overriding printer cartridge restrictions can vary depending on the specific printer model and its firmware. Here are a few general suggestions.

  • Research your printer model: Look for information specific to your printer model and its firmware version. Online forums, user manuals, or manufacturer websites may provide insights into any known workarounds or hacks.
  • Third-party firmware: In some cases, third-party firmware options may be available for certain printer models. These modified firmware versions can remove cartridge restrictions and allow the use of non-HP cartridges. However, installing third-party firmware carries risks, including potential damage to the printer or voiding the warranty.
  • Chip replacement or resetting: Some printers use chips on the cartridges to communicate with the printer and verify their authenticity. It may be possible to replace or reset the chip on a non-HP cartridge to make it compatible with the printer. This method requires technical knowledge and specialized tools.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
