Hi @oztr ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP DeskJet Plus 4120 All-In-One Printer with a single black cartridge, you need to enable single-cartridge mode. Here's how you can do that:

Enable Single-Cartridge Mode

Remove the Color Cartridge:

  • Open the ink cartridge access door and wait for the carriage to move to the center.
  • Remove the color cartridge from the printer.
  • Close the ink cartridge access door.

Set Printer to Single-Cartridge Mode:

  • When you remove the color cartridge, the printer should automatically detect that only one cartridge is installed.
  • It will then enter single-cartridge mode and allow you to print using only the black cartridge.

Printer Software Settings

Open HP Printer Assistant:

  • On your Windows 11 computer, open the HP Printer Assistant software. You can find it by searching for "HP Printer Assistant" in the Start menu.

Go to Printer Maintenance:

  • In the HP Printer Assistant, go to the "Maintain Your Printer" or "Estimated Ink Levels" section.

Check Ink Levels:

  • Ensure that the black ink cartridge is properly installed and has sufficient ink.

Print Settings

  1. Set Print Preferences:
    • When printing a document, go to the print settings by clicking "Print" and then "Properties" or "Preferences."
    • Select "Black & White" or "Grayscale" printing mode to ensure that the printer uses only the black cartridge.

Troubleshooting

If you still encounter errors or the printer does not enter single-cartridge mode, try the following:

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Uninstall the current printer drivers from your computer.
  • Download and install the latest drivers for the HP DeskJet Plus 4120 from the HP Support website.

Update Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Check for any available firmware updates for your printer on the HP Support website and install them.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
