HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e All-in-One Printer

I have a printer that was given to me, but the Set Up cartridges are not included.  How do I bypass the screen that requests that I USE the SETUP cartridges that came with the printer?  I do not have them.

Hi @EME04,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Bypassing cartridge error messages on printers can sometimes lead to unintended consequences and might not be a recommended solution. However, if you're facing the "USE SETUP CARTRIDGE" error on your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e printer, you can try the following steps to address the issue.

  • Check Cartridge Installation: Make sure that the cartridges are correctly installed in their respective slots. Open the printer's cartridge access door and ensure that the cartridges are properly seated.
  • Genuine Cartridges: Use genuine HP cartridges that are compatible with your printer model. Third-party or refilled cartridges might not work well and could trigger error messages.
  • Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. Turn on the printer and see if the error message persists.
  • Update Firmware: Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve compatibility issues. Check the HP official website for any available firmware updates for your printer model.
  • Clean Cartridge Contacts: If you're still encountering the error, you can try cleaning the cartridge contacts and the corresponding contacts inside the printer. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe away any dust or debris. Make sure the contacts are dry before reinstalling the cartridges.
  • Replace Cartridges: If none of the above steps work, you might need to consider replacing the cartridges with new, genuine HP cartridges.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
