HP OfficeJet 5740 e-All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Laptop: Envy  x-360 15dr100 - CT0

Printer: OfficeJet 5740

There is a drastic difference between how colors look on my screen and how they look when printed.  I found only one help article on HP's website but it was specific to laser printers and I have an OfficeJet, plus the article only explained why this happens and not how to fix it.  Well, it does say to visit the color management tab in properties, but it doesn't say if that is the printer's properties or the laptop's properties; plus, does this even apply to OfficeJets?

So my question is, "Can I adjust either my laptop or printer to better match the colors printed to those seen on the screen?"

I noticed this issue immediately after purchasing my printer but it was not an issue until recently when I began pursuing a graphic design career which means color accuracy is crucial to me successfully creating any project.  Before buying the HP printer I was using a Canon Pixma and I never noticed as such an extreme difference, just slight variances...not enough that  it impacted the outcome of any project.

Thanks in advance for any help you provide!

Forget about getting the same colours on screen and on paper with an Officejet printer. The way more advanced printer can match colours, not Officejet.

Officejet is for an office to use printing word and excel sheets, not for professional photo use.

Thank you for your quick reply!  Were you able to see the example photo I attached?  The difference is quite extreme, wouldn't you agree?  Is there no adjustment I can make in settings or somewhere to at least minimize the differences?  I'm not looking for 100% exactness, but the same temperature would ne nice.  TIA!

Oops, I forgot to ask if you could make a couple recommendations of printers that I could check out?  Thanks again!

Lookup for a printer that uses 6 colours, those might cost higher but the print result will be wy better than the Officejet can produce.

If you are planning to do a printing business invest in printer if you want only to print a few sheets monthly find a local print shop that already has a professional printer.

Thank you, I was not aware that some printers used six colors.  I chose the HP printer because I thought it would be most likely to be close in color to my monitor but I could not have been more wrong.  I learned something new.  Yay!
