Product: HP OfficeJet Printer 6978
Operating System: macOS 10.14 Mojave

I'm trying to convert printing and scanning to black ink only, with only black ink cartridges installed. I've pursued answers via the HP Virtual Agent, but that wasn't helpful. Does the 6978 allow for black ink cartridges only? Anyone know how to do this? Trying to save money on cartridge costs. Thanks.

You can't do that, the OJ 6978 doesn't allow black ink cartridge only, it needs to have all 4 cartridges to work.

 

If any cartridge is empty or missing it will not work, not even black&white.
