Hi, I have a HP Ink Tank Wireless 416 and I would like to know how to use only black ink on black texts on a colored document. I'm a student and sometimes I need to print documents that contains images that I need to be in color, but also have texts and, knowing that HP uses also color ink, among black ink on black texts and, knowing that the black uses pigment based ink and color uses dye based ink, when I need to highlight something, it blurs the black text because of the color used on black text. How can I print black text using ONLY black ink on a colored document? I'm using Windows 11 btw. Thanks!

HI @BATATÃO,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To print black text using only black ink on a color document with your HP Ink Tank Wireless 416, follow these steps. This will ensure that the black text is printed using only black ink and not mixed with color ink:
1. Access Printer Preferences
Open Printer Settings:
- Go to Start and search for Control Panel. Open it.
- Navigate to Devices and Printers (or View devices and printers).
Open Printer Properties:
- Find your HP Ink Tank Wireless 416 printer in the list.
- Right-click on the printer and select Printer properties or Properties.
2. Modify Printer Preferences
Go to Printing Preferences:
- In the Printer Properties window, click on the Printing Preferences button.
Select Paper/Quality Tab:
- In the Printing Preferences window, navigate to the Paper/Quality tab.
Change Print Quality:
- Look for a section or dropdown related to Print Quality. Set it to Draft or Normal.
Set to Use Black Ink Only:
- Look for an option related to Color or Color Options.
- Select Grayscale or Black Ink Only. This setting might be under Advanced settings or Color settings, depending on your printer driver.
Apply and Save Settings:
- Click Apply and then OK to save the settings.
3. Check Document Settings in Application
Open Your Document:
- Open the document you want to print in your preferred application (e.g., Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat).
Print Preview:
- Go to File > Print to open the print dialog.
- Before printing, check if there are any additional settings for printing in black and white or grayscale.
Print Using the Printer Preferences:
- Make sure the document printing settings match the preferences you set in the printer properties.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
