How do you override a non hp-chip ink cartridge error in an office jet 6958 to use non hp ink?

I have tried to find the hp cartidge disable in settings and can not find it.  Do i do this on the printer itself or on my laptop settings?

The short answer:

You cannot simply override the non-hp ink cartridge restriction.

It just doesn't work that way.

Depending on the printer model, the date of manufacture, and the available firmware for your printer,

Dynamic Security might not even be enabled,

OR

Under the circumstances listed and explained, the setting can be disabled.
