Hi @Hutch427,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
HP Instant Ink is an optional subscription service that provides ink cartridges based on usage and can offer savings and convenience for some users. However, it is not required to use HP printers and HP cartridges. If you choose not to subscribe to HP Instant Ink, your HP printer should still work with standard HP cartridges.
Steps to Use HP Printer Without Instant Ink Subscription:
Disable instant ink notifications:
- HP printers often have settings in their control panel or maintenance menu that allow you to disable notifications related to Instant Ink subscriptions.
Use Standard HP Cartridges:
- Ensure you are using genuine HP cartridges that are compatible with your printer model.
- Install the cartridges by following the instructions provided with the printer or cartridge packaging.
Check Printer Settings:
- Accessing the printer settings can be done either on the printer's control panel or through the printer software installed on your computer. Disable any settings related to Instant Ink.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Sometimes, ensuring that your printer's firmware is up-to-date can resolve issues related to ink cartridge recognition and usage. Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware
Reset Printer:
- Resetting your printer can help clear any software glitches. Turn off your printer, unplug it, wait a few minutes, plug it back in, and turn it on again.
