I bought this printer for this specific job, but after finally completing the setup process, I seem to only get 15 pages of color for each XL cartridge of color ink. Is this right? I have about 150 pages left to print. Do I really have to buy 10 more cartridges to complete my job?

@SeverinEd, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
What type of documents are you trying to print?
If they are high-quality photos, then the number of pages printable using 1 ink cartridge will reduce.
- Printing photos consume more ink than printing documents/text on regular paper.
- For more information about cartridge yields and ink use, click here
There are a few things to prevent excess ink usage:
-
The printer should always be plugged into a live outlet. If you use an external switch such as an outlet switch then more ink will be used at each startup.
-
Do not run cleaning cycles from the computer's toolbox or the printer's front panel. These are rarely needed (perhaps once for each half dozen cartridges) and will use ink.
-
Printing in Draft mode may have acceptable quality while providing about 2x the pages of Normal or Best modes.
I suggest you check the Instant Ink service which would be helpful. HP Instant Ink is based on pages printed, not cartridges/ink used. Choose a plan based on the number of pages you print monthly.
