HP ENVY 6032e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

I left the HP instant ink more than 6 months ago but the printer has started rejecting my other cartridges recently. It accepted those and was working fine for a few months. Suddenly, it is rejecting. Why? I do not want to use instant ink.

I have come to know that this is because of HP web services being enabled. How can I disable HP web services? I tried logging into my printer using IP address but it is not showing any option of disabling web services. It only show summary of whether the web services is enabled or not, as shown in attached screen shot.

Hi @SG2000

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating this must be—especially since your printer was working fine with non-Instant Ink cartridges before. HP Web Services generally will not interfere with cartridge recognition, so disabling it is not the solution for the cartridge rejection.

Steps to Disable HP Web Services

1. Disable Web Services from the Printer Control Panel

  • On your printer’s control panel, locate the HP ePrint icon or Web Services option.
  • If your printer does not have a dedicated button, navigate to:
    • Setup > Web Services Setup
    • Network Setup > Web Services
    • Wireless Settings > Web Services
  • Select Turn Off, Disable, or Remove, depending on your printer model.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process.

2. Disable Web Services via HP Smart or Embedded Web Server (EWS)

  • Open the HP Smart App on your computer or mobile device.
  • Go to Printer Settings > Advanced Settings.
  • Look for the Web Services tab and select Disable.

If using the Embedded Web Server (EWS):

  • Open a web browser and enter your printer’s IP address.
  • Navigate to the Web Services tab.
  • If only a summary is displayed, check if there’s an Advanced Settings option.
  • If no disable option appears, HP may have restricted Web Services removal for certain models.

3. Perform a Printer Reset

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • This can help clear any lingering Web Services settings.

Let me know if you need further clarification! I know how frustrating printer restrictions can be, but hopefully, this helps you regain control over your cartridges. 😊

Hi @Hawks_Eye,

Thanks for your reply.

I tried all three methods but none is helpful. There is no option of disabling / removing / turning off the web services for my printer. It is HP envy 6032e. I enrolled in instant ink and probably that was my biggest mistake.

I'm not enrolled in instant ink now but the printer is rejecting my cartridges. I understand that web services makes it do this and that is why I wanted to disable web services but I'm not getting any option for that unfortunately.

I have to get stuck with this printer issue at home and this is keeping me away from my job. I'm thinking of buying a simple printer from another brand (definitely not from HP, after all this mess) if this printer still rejects my cartridges. Should I give you printer product and serial number?

Can you help in some way so that my printer doesn't reject my cartridges? Can my printer account be removed from HP+ membership? Both these probably have same answer/solution, which HP should provide. I'm attaching the screenshots of the problem messages / notifications that I'm facing. Hope you can do something.

This is so frustrating that after buying HP printer, you can use only HP cartridges and can not refill your cartridges. It looks like I did a blunder by joining HP instant ink trial once and then leaving it later. Can someone please suggest a solution to this OR Do I have to buy another non-HP printer to restart my printing work?

HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP or refilled cartridges. HP recommends using genuine HP ink or toner supplies available from the HP Store. Go to HP Anti Counterfeiting and Fraud Program for more information on using authentic HP cartridges.

If the error displays with genuine HP cartridges, select No, OK, or Continue. If the print job completes, the issue is resolved but you might need to dismiss the message every time you print until the cartridges are depleted. Otherwise continue with these steps to resolve the issue.

Reset the printer

Reset the printer to recover from printer errors or failures.

If your printer has a rechargeable battery, remove it.

Press the power button to turn off the printer. If the printer does not turn off, disconnect the power cord from the printer.

Unplug the power cord from the power source.

Wait 60 seconds.

Connect the power cord directly to a wall outlet and to the printer.

Turn on the printer to complete the reset.

Replace the problem cartridge

Installing a new cartridge usually resolves cartridge errors.

Obtain a replacement cartridge.

Printer is enrolled in Instant Ink. Replacement cartridges are part of your subscription. If you have another Instant Ink cartridge on hand, install it. Otherwise, contact HP Instant Ink support for a new cartridge.

Printer is NOT enrolled in Instant Ink. Go to the HP Store or a local retailer to find and purchase compatible supplies. HP recommends genuine HP cartridges.

Open the door or lid to the cartridge access area. Wait until the carriage stops moving before continuing.

Remove the cartridge indicated in the error message, and then insert the new cartridge into the slot.

Repeat these steps to replace any other cartridges indicated in the error message.

Close the door or lid to the cartridge access area, and then follow any instructions to align the printer.
