My officejet 8015e now rejects cartridges that were working before it “upgraded” its firmware to December 2024 version. There seems to be no way to disable cartridge checks. The only fix I can find is to try reverting to the older working firmware. But it’s no longer available, AFAICT, from the HP support site. Does anyone have a link?
Thanks

Hi @CartridgeHell,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand how frustrating it is to have cartridges that were previously working suddenly become unusable after a firmware update. Sorry to hear about the issue, please try the steps shared below and let me know if this helps
Reset the Printer & Reinstall Cartridges
Try these steps to force the printer to recognize the cartridges:
1. Power Drain (Reset):
- With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
- Remove the USB cable, if connected.
- Wait for 2-3 minutes.
- Press and hold the power button on the printer for about 30 seconds.
- Plug the power cable directly into a wall outlet (no surge protector or extension cord) and then plug the power cord back into the printer.
Turn on the printer and wait for the warm-up period to finish and the printer to be idle
2. Remove & Reinstall Cartridges
- Turn the printer off and wait 2 minutes.
- Turn it back on and reinstall cartridges one at a time.
3. Clean Contacts:
- If the cartridges are recognized, but there are other printing problems, gently clean the contacts on the cartridge and in the printer carriage with a lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol.
4. Update the Firmware:
Please use the link shared and try to update the firmware
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
