I ALWAYS use genuine HP cartridges. I often get ennoying pop-ups "HP Cartridge authentication" the link does not even work, it is only to incite me to order HP cartridges via an HP website that DOES NOT EVEN WORK OUTSIDE THE USA !!!
I want to get rid of theses authentications once and for all.

Hi @Hughhp,
Thank you for the details.
Try these steps:
Check Printer Settings:
- Access the printer's settings through its control panel or web interface.
- Look for any settings related to cartridge authentication or verification. Disable these settings if available.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. Visit the HP Support website and check for any available firmware updates for your HP 500 Color MFP M570. Updating the firmware might resolve authentication issues.
HP Support Assistant:
- Use the HP Support Assistant tool to check for updates and assistance specific to your printer model. This tool can help manage printer settings and updates.
Set Region in Printer Settings:
- Ensure your printer is set to the correct region. Sometimes region mismatches cause authentication pop-ups.
Disable EWS Alerts:
- Access the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) by entering its IP address in a web browser.
- Navigate to settings and look for options related to notifications or alerts. Disable any settings related to cartridge messages.
I hope this helps.

Hi Kuroi,
Any idea where to find the regiona settings ? Regarding the cartridge options in Settings, I don't think the HP LaserJet 500 colorMFP M570dw printers have this option. I couldn't find it.

Hi @Hughhp,
Thanks for the update and for sharing your device details.
Since you’re using the HP Color LaserJet Enterprise 500 MFP M570dw and couldn’t find the cartridge authentication or region settings directly on the printer interface, let’s try a few advanced steps using the Embedded Web Server (EWS) and HP Smart Install settings:
1. Access the Embedded Web Server (EWS):
Ensure your printer is connected to the same network as your PC.
Print a Network Configuration Page from the printer’s control panel.
Note the IP address of the printer.
Open a web browser and type the IP address in the address bar (e.g., http://192.168.1.5).
2. Disable Cartridge Alerts from the EWS:
Go to the Settings or System tab.
Navigate to Supply Settings or Alerts.
Look for options like:
Cartridge Policy
Cartridge Protection
HP Cartridge Authentication
If available, disable or turn off these features.
Also check for Supply Notification Settings, and reduce or disable pop-up notifications if possible.
3. Check “HP Smart Install” Settings (if available):
In the EWS, under General Settings, locate HP Smart Install.
If this feature is enabled, consider disabling it to stop HP marketing prompts.
I hope this helps.

Hi @Hughhp,
Thanks for sharing the screenshot.
Based on the UI of the HP LaserJet 500 Color MFP M570dw Embedded Web Server (EWS) you shared, the options to disable cartridge authentication/pop-up messages are not directly visible under the “System Setup” tab. However, here are the next steps you can guide the customer through to dig deeper:
Access the Administration Section
In the left-hand menu (where "System Setup" is highlighted in your screenshot), select "Administration" (usually the last item).
Look for these sub-sections:
Security
Cartridge Policy
Cartridge Protection
Notifications or Alerts
Disable Cartridge Policy & Protection (if available)
Within the Administration or Security area:
Set Cartridge Policy to "Off"
Set Cartridge Protection to "Disable"
If there’s an HP Cartridge Authentication setting, disable it.
Disable Alert Notifications:
Under Administration → Alerts or Notifications, disable or adjust:
Cartridge Warnings
Low Supply Alerts
Any Marketing or Supply Purchase Reminders
Use HP Web Jetadmin (Advanced Option):
If none of the above options are visible or editable via EWS:
Download and install HP Web Jetadmin
This is HP’s centralized printer management software. It gives you advanced access to suppress pop-ups, notifications, and supply alerts across enterprise-level printers like yours.
I hope this helps.
