As I'm trying to get this printer going with various old cartridges often only one will work and I want to still be able to print with either the color or black alone. Is there a way? I'm currently connected to it with just my Android phone but I can also hook it up to my Windows 7 laptop if need be. Thanks

Welcome to the HP support community.

 

I understand that you want to use the printer with a single cartridge, I am glad to assist you.

This printer does not support printing in single-cartridge mode, you will have to use both cartridges to print.
