Hi @Eekwa,
Welcome to the HP Support Community
I understand need help turning off Cartridge Protection on your HP Ency 6200 printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.
HP does not recommend the use of non-HP inks. It may or may not work.
Download available firmware updates from the HP website
- With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
The third-party ink cartridges will work. But there are many cartridges in the market which is refilled and sometimes the chip is not configured to work with the printer. You need to contact the cartridge manufacturer and find out why it's not working. Try a different cartridge supplier and check if that works.
Please follow the below steps:
·Click on the “start” button on your computer, and then click “Devices and Printers”
·Find your HP printer and double-click it to open the “Settings” page.
·Click the text for “Estimated Ink Levels” under the heading of “Shopping Resources”. This will open the HP Toolbox window.
·Click the tab for “Cartridge Protection”
·Click the radio button next to “Disable HP Cartridge Protection”.
·Click the “Save Setting” button to save your new setting. Then, close the window.
If the issue persists, refer to - Dynamic Security Enabled Printers
There is no option to downgrade the printer firmware. If you find posts/instructions on the same from other community members, You may try it at your own discretion
I hope that answers your concern adequately. Let me know!
