@Mimimoxie5, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP 6001 printhead issue!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I see you're facing an issue where the printhead on your HP 6001 isn't moving to the center when you open the top cover, preventing you from replacing it. Let’s troubleshoot this together!
Restart the Printer:
Power off the printer and unplug it from the outlet.
Wait about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and power it on.
Open the top cover again and check if the printhead moves.
Check for Obstructions:
Open the printer and inspect the carriage area.
Look for any paper jams, loose objects, or ink buildup that might be blocking movement.
If you see any debris, gently remove it and try again.
Manually Move the Carriage (If Possible):
With the printer off, gently try to move the printhead carriage to the center.
If it resists or feels stuck, do not force it—let me know, as this could indicate a mechanical issue.
Reset the Printer:
Disconnect the power cable while the printer is on.
Wait 60 seconds and reconnect it.
Turn the printer back on and check if the issue persists.
A Few Questions to Narrow Down the Issue:
When you open the top cover, do you hear any motor sounds, or is it completely silent?
Have you recently experienced paper jams or any errors related to the printhead or carriage?
Have there been any firmware updates or changes made before this issue started?
Let me know what you find, and we’ll figure out the best next steps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
