Hi @81Muss

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP DeskJet 2855e isn't recognizing a new, genuine HP ink cartridge, even though it is a brand-name replacement, there are a few steps you can follow to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Check for Packaging Residue or Tape

Sometimes, new cartridges have protective tape or packaging that needs to be removed. Make sure you've taken off all the protective plastic or tape from the cartridge before installing it.

2. Reinstall the Cartridge

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Open the printer’s cartridge access door.
  • Remove the ink cartridge that’s not recognized, and reinstall it, making sure it clicks into place securely.
  • Close the cartridge access door and plug the printer back in.
  • Turn the printer on and check if it now recognizes the cartridge.

3. Reset the Printer

Sometimes a reset can help clear temporary errors and allow the printer to recognize the new cartridge:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug it from the power outlet.
  • Wait for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Check if the printer recognizes the cartridge after restarting.

4. Check Ink Cartridge Compatibility

Even though the cartridge is from HP, there might be a compatibility issue. Make sure that the cartridge is the correct model for your printer. For the DeskJet 2855e, the correct cartridges are usually:

  • HP 67 (black) and HP 67 (color) or
  • HP 67XL (black) and HP 67XL (color)

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
