@Groupedefi55, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Check the Cartridges

  • Power Off and Unplug: Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Remove and Reinsert Cartridges: Open the printer's access door, remove the cartridges, and check if they are correctly installed. Clean the contacts on the cartridges with a lint-free cloth. Reinsert the cartridges and make sure they click into place.

Check for Cartridge Compatibility

  • Ensure the cartridges you're using are the correct models for the HP Envy 5010. If you've recently replaced the cartridges, confirm that they are authentic HP cartridges or ones compatible with your printer.

Reset the Printer

  • Hard Reset: After ensuring the cartridges are properly seated, perform a hard reset:
    1. Turn off the printer and unplug it.
    2. Wait for about 60 seconds.
    3. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
    4. Check if the error message still appears.

Check the Printer's Firmware

  • Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check this by visiting the HP support website and downloading any available firmware updates for your printer.

Clean the Contacts

  • Clean the Ink Cartridge and Printer Contacts: Use a clean, lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water to gently wipe the electrical contacts on both the cartridge and the printer’s cartridge compartment. Dirty or clogged contacts can cause recognition issues.

Try a Different Set of Cartridges

  • If possible, try using a different, known working set of cartridges to see if the issue persists. If the new cartridges work, it may be an issue with the original cartridges.

Check for a Paper Jam

  • A paper jam can sometimes cause errors to appear. Open all paper access areas and remove any jammed paper. Be careful not to tear the paper inside the printer.

Factory Reset

  • If none of the above steps work, you might want to perform a factory reset on the printer. This will reset all settings to their default state. Here's how:
    1. Go to the printer's menu.
    2. Navigate to "Settings" or "Setup."
    3. Look for an option like "Restore Defaults" or "Factory Reset."
    4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue
