I would be grateful if anyone could help me in this matter.
I do not have the original setup cartridges that came with the printer HP ENVVY 5032. I can't complete the initial setup because unfortunately, I no longer have them.
Could someone please provide me with the official Out-Of-Box Experience (OOBE) reset instructions or any alternative solutions that will allow me to reinitialize the printer and bypass the need for the original setup cartridges?
The printer is brand new out of the box, opened only after 2 years of purchase unfortunately. Didn't find my setup cartridges in the box. 😞

Thank you for explaining the situation clearly. I understand how frustrating this must be, especially when the printer is technically new, but the original setup cartridges are no longer available.
For the HP ENVY 5032, the first-time initialization (OOBE – Out-Of-Box Experience) is normally completed using the original HP Setup cartridges that came in that specific box. These setup cartridges are paired for first activation only and cannot be replaced separately by HP.
However, the good news is:
✅ You can still complete the setup without the original setup cartridges.
To do this properly, you must install:
- Brand-new, genuine HP 304 or 304XL retail cartridges
(Not “Setup” cartridges and not third-party/refilled cartridges)
⚠️ Important:
- Third-party or refilled cartridges will not allow OOBE to complete.
- Mixed cartridge types (one setup + one retail) will also fail.
What We Need From You
To guide you through the bypass procedure safely, please share:
- A clear photo of the black cartridge
- A clear photo of the color cartridge
- Confirm whether they say:
- “SETUP”
- Or just HP 304 / 304XL
Once we confirm you have the correct genuine retail cartridges installed, we can guide you through the reset + initialization steps to bypass the setup cartridge requirement.
Please do not discard the printer; this situation is usually recoverable. Share the cartridge photos, and we’ll take you step by step.
