Hi @Jazz267

Welcome to the HP support community.

The event code 62.80.13 on your HP OfficeJet 8024 printer generally indicates an issue with the printer’s scanner or printing mechanism, often related to a hardware error or a stuck carriage. This error can occur for several reasons, such as a paper jam, obstruction, or mechanical failure in the printer.

Here are the steps you can take to troubleshoot and fix this issue:

1. Turn Off the Printer and Unplug It

  • Turn off your printer using the power button.
  • Unplug the printer from the power outlet and wait for at least 30 seconds. This can sometimes help reset any internal mechanisms or clear temporary errors.

2. Check for Paper Jams

  • Paper jams are a common cause of scanner or printer errors.
  • Open the printer’s carriage access door (where the ink cartridges are).
  • Carefully check for any jammed paper or foreign objects inside the printer that could be causing the scanner or printing mechanism to malfunction.
  • If you find a jam, remove it gently and make sure no small pieces of paper are left inside.

3. Check the Ink Cartridges

  • Ensure that the ink cartridges are properly installed and seated.
  • Remove the ink cartridges and inspect them for any damage or leaks. If you see anything unusual, try replacing the cartridges with new ones.
  • Clean the contacts on both the cartridges and the printer (where the cartridges connect) using a soft, lint-free cloth.

4. Check the Scanner Area

  • Inspect the scanner area for any obstructions. The event code 62.80.13 is often related to the scanner, so look for any items or paper that could be blocking the scanner from moving freely.
  • If you see any dust, dirt, or debris on the scanner, use a clean cloth to wipe it gently.
  • Ensure that the scanner head moves freely across the scan bed when you manually move it (with the printer off).

5. Reset the Printer

  • Turn the printer back on, but instead of printing immediately, perform a hard reset:
    • Hold the power button for about 10-15 seconds after turning the printer on.
    • Release the power button and wait for the printer to finish rebooting.

6. Perform a Printer Reset from the Printer's Menu

  • On the printer’s control panel, tap the "Settings" icon.
  • Go to "Printer Maintenance" or "Tools".
  • Look for "Restore Factory Defaults" or a similar option.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts to reset the printer.

7. Check for Firmware Updates

  • Sometimes, updating the printer’s firmware can resolve persistent errors.
  • Go to the HP support website and check if there’s a newer firmware version available for your HP OfficeJet 8024 printer.
  • You can update the firmware through the HP Smart app or by downloading the update manually from the HP website.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
