Hi @LIZZYGIRL2,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
If you’re getting a “Printhead not detected or missing” error on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8715 and the usual troubleshooting steps haven’t resolved it, here are some additional approaches to try:
Check for Protective Tape: Ensure that there’s no protective tape still on the printhead or ink cartridges. Sometimes, the tape can prevent proper contact.
Inspect Printhead Contacts:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Remove the printhead and inspect the electrical contacts on both the printhead and inside the printer for any dirt or debris.
- Use a soft, lint-free cloth or a cotton swab lightly moistened with water or isopropyl alcohol to clean the contacts.
Reinstall the Printhead:
- After cleaning, reinstall the printhead firmly and ensure it’s seated correctly.
- Reinstall the ink cartridges as well.
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Connect the printer to your computer or Wi-Fi and check for any firmware updates. Sometimes, an update can resolve compatibility issues.
Reset the Printer:
- Perform a hard reset by turning off the printer, unplugging it from the power source, and waiting for at least 60 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on.
Try a Different Printhead:
- If possible, test the printer with a different printhead. This can help determine if the issue is with the printhead itself.
Perform a Printer Self-Test:
- Check if the printer can run a self-test without the cartridges installed. This can help confirm if the issue is related to the printhead or another component.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
